Is Islam A Peaceful Religion?

O Prophet! Resort to jihad against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be thou harsh with them; their is Gehenna-an evil homecoming! Sura 9:73
They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-...Sura 4:89

and

When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then, when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds;"... Sura 47:4a

Abdullah Yusuf Ali's Commentary:

"Once the fight (Jihad) is entered upon, carry it out with the utmost vigour, and strike home your blows at the most vital points (smite their necks), both literally and figuratively. And the last verse I will mention right now is Sura 5:33
"This is the recompense of those who fight against God and His Messenger, and hasten about the earth, to do corruption there: they shall be slaughtered, or crucified, or their hands and feet shall alternately be struck off, or they shall be banished from the land. This is a degradation for them in this world; and in the world to come awaits them a mighty chastisement."

If you research actions of Islamic governments in countries such as Sudan, you will see that they have crucified, slaughtered and cut off hands and feet in accordance to the Quran.
